Major energy firm plunges into administration – nearly 300 jobs lost | UK | News
In the announcement made on Friday, it was announced that an energy company was transferred to administration and approximately 300 people lost their jobs. Consumer Energy Solutions, owned by City Energy Group, which has sites in Swansea and Rhondda Cynon Taf, has been confirmed to be in the process of restructuring.
A notice announcing the appointment of administrators was uploaded to the Consumer Energy Solutions (CES) website. He added that the energy company had “ceased trading with immediate effect”. It has been confirmed that 295 employees are employed at CES in Swansea and Treorchy, with managers now responsible for supporting all employees during job losses.

The company said its planned restructuring and resulting job losses were linked to the closure of ECO4, a UK Government-backed energy scheme it was running.
ECO4 has funded home energy efficiency improvements (such as insulation, solar panels and heat pumps) for eligible households, but with the initiative set to end this year, the group says the loss has created a financial gap that has forced it to rethink its operations and staffing.
The notice said: “Please note that James Saunders and Michael Lennon of KR8 Advisory Limited were appointed joint administrators of Consumer Energy Solutions Limited on 9 January 2026, the company has ceased trading with immediate effect.
“The company is unable to complete further work for customers. It is worth noting that the management of the company does not include any other companies in the City Energy Group.
“Joint administrators will contact creditors and employees directly to confirm next steps and how claims will be handled. You do not need to do anything else at this stage.
“If you are a creditor of the company and believe you retain title to goods supplied to the company, please forward details to CES@kr8.co.uk.
“As Consumer Energy Solutions enters administration we will be unable to carry out any remedial works or repairs or progress or resolve any existing complaints.
“If you have an installation completed by Consumption Energy Solutions and you are experiencing any issues that you think need to be fixed, we refer you to the following insurance backed warranty providers who can advise.”
