A high street retailer collapsed; Its first four branches are now closing following administration. The Original Factory Store, known as TOFS, will close its first outlets since the collapse, which customers described as a “major blow”.
Original Factory Store (TOFS) closed its Prudhoe premises in Northumberland this week; this development was described by locals as a “major blow” to the city centre.
In the official statement made by the company, it was said, “Unfortunately, due to the non-renewal of our contract, we will no longer do business from our store in the Cooperative.” “While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we are incredibly grateful for the loyalty, kindness and support you have shown to our team.”
Modella Capital described the decision as “very harsh”.
Local councilor Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, said: “This is a huge blow to the high street. Our store in Prudhoe is so popular with many local families that people travel from miles away.”
Three TOFS sites in Northern Ireland have also been earmarked for permanent closure: Ballycastle and Portrush in County Antrim and Warrenpoint in County Down.
