Iran’s new religious leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei announced that the Strait of Hormuz will be “under new management” in an important announcement on Thursday.

“The enemy will compensate us for any damage done,” he continued. “We will not give up our rights in any way, and in this context we see the entire Axis of Resistance as a whole.”

The Iranian leader made this important statement in a written speech that was read aloud on state television. This follows reports that only a small number of ships have been allowed to pass through the Bosphorus since the ceasefire was declared.

Operation of the vital waterway, which is expected to ease pressure on the oil and gas industry, was a central component of the deal.

The statement also stated that Iran expects an appropriate response from “our southern neighbors” (Arab countries bordering the Persian Gulf) “so that Iran can show you our brotherhood.”

The leader also declared that the country was steadfast in its desire to “avenge” his father, who was killed in one of the first US-Israeli attacks on February 28. Khamenei assumed the leadership role following his father’s death.

In the days since the ceasefire was declared, it has become increasingly apparent that both sides are having difficulty meeting these conditions.

Despite assurances that Lebanon would be protected against Israeli attacks, Israel continued to launch missile attacks on the country, killing an estimated 300 people and injuring nearly a thousand others.

Minister Donald Trump In an interview with NBC News on Thursday, he said he had urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be “a little more low-key” in operations in Lebanon as the United States seeks to end the conflict with Iran.

This Saturday, a US delegation will travel to Pakistan, where talks are planned to be held mediated by the South Asian country.

Khamenei’s threatening statement came just days after Trump issued a series of harsh warnings against Iran on social media.

The US leader wrote: “An entire civilization will die tonight and will never be brought back. I don’t want it to happen, but it probably will.”

Trump’s outburst appears to have a profound impact on how Americans perceive not only the war with Iran but also his ability to govern the country stably.

A recent poll by the co-founder of Free Speech for People found that fifty-two percent of registered voters, including one in seven Republicans, support impeaching the U.S. leader.
