Major job site reveals most sought-after roles – and they might not be what you’d think

A new report has revealed that the healthcare support worker position emerged as the most sought-after position last month.
Data from job site Adzuna showed vacancies continued to decline in December, marking the sixth consecutive monthly decline and competition for positions reaching its highest level in more than four years.
Alongside healthcare support, other popular job searches included warehouse workers, cleaners, lorry and delivery drivers and social care staff.
According to the same report, executive and manager positions also stand out among the top 10 most sought-after roles.
High inflation, economic uncertainty and the increasing use of artificial intelligence were said to be affecting recruitment activities.
It has been reported that employers are reducing remote positions and demanding more office presence as hiring slows down, with remote job postings at the lowest level since March 2020.
Andrew Hunter, co-founder of Adzuna, said: “December figures confirm what the direction of travel through 2025 makes clear – last year was one of the most challenging years for job seekers since the pandemic.”
