Majority of GTA residents planning staycations, poll finds

A new survey from Silverware, an advanced hospitality technology company that examines the summer plans of GTA residents, said that 56% of them planned to stay in Toronto and the main reason for the US political climate and travel concerns.

Other reasons for a Staycation found that 35% wanted to support local restaurants and businesses, 33% of them wanted to explore Toronto and more, who loves high life costs and 27%.

The questionnaire stated that 43% of GTA residents are the most important reason for Toronto’s various restaurant scene as Toronto is a great Staycation target, and 29% of them plan to spend more time in local restaurants this summer.

81% of the respondents admitted that almost half of Toronto’s participants were a good place for a Staycation that pointed to the kitchen and art scene and its proximity to nature.
The study found that 63%of Toronto residents planned to stay in the city, 58%of York 53%, Durham 49%and Halton 47%.
The study found that Toronto natives and residents of the Peel region had 37% and 32% more time in local restaurants this summer, respectively, both higher than 29% on average GTA.

Staycations were popular this summer compared to only 48% of young and mid-aged adults who were 18-34 years old and 35 to 54 years old, especially 55 years and older.

When people came to the place they want to explore, the best choices in GTA were Toronto Islands (51%), Distility Zone (39%), Harbourfront (36%), Kensington Market (30%), Beaches (29%) and city center (27%).
Better areas such as Queen West (10%) and King West (6%), water, history and walker, and traditional summer staples were not visible.
Angus Reid Survey was conducted by silver goods between 9-12 May between a representative example of 1,005 online Canadian. Only for comparison, an example of probability of this size will carry a margin of error of 19 times more or minus 2.9 points.
