Man arrested after death of student at her university accommodation | England

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a student in accommodation at the University of Lancashire.
Carla Georgescu, 19, was found dead at her home in Victoria Street, Preston, on Thursday afternoon, Lancashire Constabulary said.
Police teams went to the address upon a report of “sudden death”, which was considered suspicious.
Georgescu was in her second year at university studying clinical psychology.
A 34-year-old man known to him was arrested and remains in custody.
Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.
A spokesman said: “We know the news of this young woman’s death and police activity will concern many people, but we want to tell you that we have a team of detectives and uniformed officers working hard to identify and determine the circumstances.”
Members of the public with concerns or information are asked to contact police on 101, quoting log 0560.
A University of Lancashire spokesman said staff and students were “deeply saddened by the tragic loss”.
The statement read: “The health and safety of our students and staff is our priority. Support is offered to everyone in our university community affected by this devastating event, and our thoughts are with our loved ones, friends and everyone who knew our student at this incredibly sad time.”
