Man arrested after woman’s body found in Melbourne eastern suburbs home

Detectives are investigating the death of a woman in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

A 39-year-old man known to the woman was arrested and is expected to be questioned Monday afternoon.

Police have not yet released the woman’s age.

His body was found at around 11am on Monday morning at a house on the Mountain Highway near Dorset Road in the suburb of Bayswater.

A police spokesman said a 39-year-old Bayswater man was arrested at around 11.40am.

“It is believed that the parties know each other,” the spokesman said.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Images from the scene show the suburban street lined with police tape.
