Man arrested following death of 44-year-old woman

Police have arrested a man following the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found at a house in Melbourne’s north.

Homicide detectives are examining the circumstances surrounding the death of a 44-year-old man who they say was seriously assaulted in Epping on Thursday evening.

Emergency services responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at a property on Gottloh Street at 5.50pm.

While medical teams responded to the house, the woman died at the scene. A 50-year-old Lalor man was later arrested on Thursday night and will be interviewed by police.

Police think the two knew each other.

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, police are treating the death as suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing and police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage.
