Man arrested for burning wife to death in Hyderabad’s Nallakunta; mother manages to save daughter

A 26-year-old woman was burnt to death by her husband in Nallakunta on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, allegedly following a domestic dispute. Police said the incident took place in front of the children. It was stated that the accused was 31-year-old Venkatesh and the deceased was 26-year-old Triveni.
Nallakunta Superintendent of Police K. Maruthi Prasad said the accused was arrested within 24 hours while he was trying to leave the city from Ameenpur.
According to the officer, the couple were locals of Huzurnagar and had gotten married about eight years ago after being in a relationship for a while. They later moved to Hyderabad, where both worked as daily wage labourers.
“The couple had frequent fights, with Venkatesh allegedly doubting his wife’s fidelity and even questioning the paternity of his daughter,” the officer said.
Earlier this year, the couple broke up after Venkatesh allegedly asked Triveni to quit his job. However, they reconciled in October and continued to live together in Nalakunta. On the morning of December 24, Venkatesh drank alcohol, bought petrol from a nearby outlet and brought it home.
“Venkatesh woke up his sons, gave him food and asked him to come out to save him from the attack. He allegedly planned to kill his daughter too. He then poured petrol on Triveni and set her on fire,” the officer explained, adding that Triveni managed to save the girl.
Neighbors who heard the screams came to the scene and tried to save the injured. While Triveni suffered serious burn injuries and died, her daughter suffered minor burns and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
A case has been registered by Nalakunta police and further investigation is on. Police reported that the suspect was transferred to the courthouse after being processed at the police station.
