Man arrested for misusing name of joint secretary in CM’s secretariat to cheat assistant professor

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) on January 24 announced the arrest of a man from Mysuru for allegedly misusing the name of a joint secretary in the Prime Minister’s secretariat and cheating of Rs 100,000 from an assistant professor.
The accused has been identified as KC Jagadish, a resident of Mysuru. He allegedly used the name of M. Ramaiah, joint secretary at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat in Vikasa Soudha, to commit the fraud. The victim was identified as Venkatesh Mutthannanavar, an assistant professor at JSS Science College.
According to the complaint, Mr. Mutthannanavar was trying to become a member of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). He met Jagadish through a paying guesthouse owner in Kengeri. Jagadish allegedly promised to help him get KPSC membership and claimed that the work would be done through Ramaiah.
However, Ramaiah was unaware of this situation and learned about it only later. He then complained to Commissioner of Police Seemant Kumar Singh, who handed over the case to CCB. Police arrested Jagadish for questioning on Thursday.
