A man has been charged with murder after a car crashed into a pedestrian in north-west London.

Shakaine Dwyer, 29, has been charged with the murder of Ruben Nunes, 34, of Peterborough, who was run over in Willesden on December 3, the Metropolitan Police said.

Mr Dwyer, from Willesden, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving on December 7, but the force said this was converted to murder on Monday.

The Met Police added that Gregory Ejiofor, 31, of Milton Keynes, was charged with possessing a firearm with intent to create fear of violence.

‘There is a light inside you’

At 12:45 GMT, officers were called to Chapel Close to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrians. Mr. Nunes died at the scene.

Earlier this month, his family said: “Ruben was a family man – a son, a brother, an uncle, a father and a partner.

“He was honest with his friends and cared about the people around him. He loved football and was a big Liverpool supporter.

“Ruben had a light inside him; he brightened the lives of everyone he touched.

“He was much loved by all who knew him and will always be remembered as a truly blessed soul.”
