Man dead, two others critical after Scarborough crash

A person has been arrested for impaired driving after a multi-vehicle crash Thursday night in Scarborough’s east end left one person dead and two others fighting for their lives in a hospital.

Toronto Police said on social media at 10:30 p.m. that officers and firefighters had responded to a two-vehicle collision in the Sheppard Ave. E.-Vandorf St. area north of Hwy. 401.

They said at the time that all vehicles had remained at the scene and that some of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

Police later clarified that a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene and that a 35-year-old woman and a man in his 40s had been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
A 49-year-old man was arrested under the suspicion of impaired driving, they said.
Police said Sheppard is closed at Vandorf as officers continue to investigate.

Teens stabbed after ‘altercation’ in North York
Two male victims were hospitalized, including one with critical injuries, after an “altercation” between two groups of teens Thursday evening in North York.
Toronto Police said the two victims showed up at a hospital with stab wounds just after 7 p.m. and that a third victim was possibly outstanding after an incident in the Wilson Ave.-Agate Rd. area, east of Keele St.
