Man dies after ‘assault’ following bar brawl in Kerala’s Alappuzha; five held

A 30-year-old man died after he was allegedly attacked by a group following a brawl at a bar in Ezhupunna in Alappuzha, Kerala, police said on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Nidhin, a native of Kumbalangi in Ernakulam district.
Police said five people were detained and interrogated at Aroor police station.
According to the FIR, a fight broke out between Nidhin and three others at a bar in Ezhupunna on Thursday night.
The FIR alleged that Nidhin, who was sitting on his motorcycle on the roadside after coming out of the bar, was manhandled and kicked by the accused.
He soon lost consciousness and collapsed on the road.
Police said people who noticed Nidhin lying on the roadside rushed him to a hospital in Kumbalangi, where he was pronounced dead.
A case of murder was registered on Friday and investigation is ongoing.
The police said that the detailed statements of the detainees were recorded, after which their arrests would be officially recorded.
The body will be handed over to relatives after the autopsy.
