Man dies after being struck by Transperth bus near Perth Arena

A man was shot by a bus outside a moving sports arena in Perth, which left a community in shock and led to renewed calls for better pedestrian safety.

The 45 -year -old man died after he was shot by Pert Transit Authority bus as he passed the Wellington ST by the Millian ST – directly outside the Perth Arena immediately after 18.15 on Friday.

The man was treated by medical officials, but could not be saved at the scene and did not die.

Inspector Vic Hussey said that there was a scene facing 9news.

“Thus, a pedestrian road passed and sadly, he contacted a transperth bus traveling at this intersection,” he said.

“A very, very sad scene here right now.”

The 37 -year -old male bus driver was not physically damaged, but was shaken.

Witnesses, immediately after the collision and could not speak, the nearby others crying on the street.

The accident occurred as hundreds of people arrived in the arena to watch a super netball conflict between West Coast Fever and Adelaide Thunderbirds, and the city workers leaving their offices throughout the day.

Emergency teams joined the scene while the intensive intersection was closed and the big accident officers began investigation.

The residents have expressed concerns about pedestrian safety at the intersection since then.

“Not pleasant, especially when it is very close to the house and something that can be avoided,” he said.

“I raised this with the police about two months ago because I was almost killed.”

WA police confirmed that the driver helped the investigation and applied to the public for information.
