Man dies after ‘collision between car and pedestrian’ | UK | News

One person died after a car and pedestrians collided in London, police said. The Metropolitan Police arrested a suspect on suspicion of murder following the incident in Willesden, north London, on Wednesday. Police received reports of a collision between a car and pedestrians on Chapel Close, outside Willesden Magistrates’ Court, at around 12.44am.

Paramedics also rushed to the scene, but unfortunately 34-year-old Ruben Nunes was pronounced dead. His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist police. On Thursday the Met arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody.

Authorities asked for witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to come forward.

Detective Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads policing in the area, said: “This is a distressing incident and we understand the concern this will cause for the local community.

“Our thoughts are with Ruben’s family and friends at this difficult time. If you live nearby you can expect an increased police presence in the area as officers carry out the investigation.

“This will include the number of officers on patrol; if you have any concerns or concerns please speak to them. “You can also speak directly to local ward officers by signing up and using Met Engage.

“If you know what happened or have dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident it is important that you please come forward and contact us.”

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.41pm on Wednesday 3 December to reports of a road traffic accident at the junction of Chapel Close and Chantry Crescent, NW10.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, paramedics in rapid response cars and an incident response officer. We also sent the London Air Ambulance.

“Despite all the efforts of our teams, unfortunately one person died at the scene.”
