Man in his 70s seen using mobility scooter on motorway before police rush in

A man in his 70s was seen using a mobility scooter on the highway and police escorted him home.
Essex Police said they were called to reports of a man accidentally turning onto the M11 motorway at Harlow at around 12.35pm on Friday.
He was seen driving on the hard shoulder.
Police officers were dispatched to the scene to ensure the driver was safe and closed the lane for a time while they placed the driver in the police vehicle.
They took him and the scooter to his house.
In the photo shared by the police, a mobility scooter with a blue and green raincoat was seen on the road.
Police said “many motorists” had asked police to help them and it was “a great reminder to only use appropriate vehicles on our main roads”.
“Thanks to everyone who called to let us know,” Essex Police wrote.
