A Labor MP has launched a “Summer Sex” campaign and vowed to bring sex toys to parliament. South Derbyshire MP Samantha Niblett is pushing for more open lifelong sex education in the UK.

The MP added that he had recently seen content on the website MakeLoveNotPorn, founded by Cindy Gallop. The site aims to offer an alternative to hardcore pornography.

Ms Niblett explained how the website features “real people having messy, funny, intimate and sensual sex together”. She added: “It’s exciting, it helps you masturbate, it helps you come.”

Ms Niblett also hopes to bring sex toys to the House of Commons to encourage open conversation. He told Politics Home that personal pleasure is “good for your health” but criticized school sex education for being “quite medical” rather than focusing on feeling good.

She explained: “Everything was focused on what you shouldn’t do, not what you should do. Pleasure certainly didn’t play a part in it. And as a girl, you worry about either catching an STD or getting pregnant. I don’t remember talking much about birth control either.”

She added: “It’s funny, just because I’m campaigning on sex education, it’s not like I’m this strong, sexually flamboyant person. I’m not. I wish I was.”

The MP also said he would “happily” talk to the BBC about creating more educational content for adults. In addition to Cindy Gallop, she wants to include TV presenter Davina McCall, relationship expert Paul Bruson and sex education content creators in her campaign.

It comes after Labor recently agreed to ban “barely legal” pornography depicting sexual relations between step-relatives under pressure from MPs. Ms Niblett also welcomed the ban on nudification practices.
