Man left with life-changing injuries after being shot by counter-terror police at village pub

A man was taken to hospital after he was shot by an armed police except in a rural village in the city.

The incident occurred on Monday evening at 9.00 in Park Gate Inn in Hollingbourne.

An investigation was initiated with the fact that the man’s injuries changed life.

The city police said in a statement that the officers joined the PUB to make an address at 19.15.

The force said: “While a firearm was discharged by a police officer while at the scene. A man was subjected to injuries that were believed to have changed life and was taken to a London hospital where he continued to be treated.

“After a short time, IPC declared an independent investigation supported by the city police.”

Forensic medical officers were seen to collect evidence overnight, while public members were advised to avoid the closed region in both directions of the A20.

An IOPC spokesman said: “On Monday, July 7, we started an independent investigation after being shot and seriously injured by the city police who responded to an incident.

“After the incident in Hollingbourne, which occurred shortly after 9 o’clock, we were informed by the force and soon declared an independent investigation.

“The man is being treated in the hospital because of his injuries that are thought to have changed life.

“We sent the inspectors to the scene and the police after the incident to start collecting evidence.”
