Trump declares airport emergency, orders TSA pay amid shutdown

President Donald Trump said he would sign an executive order to address the airport’s disruptions, and he announced the decision on Truth Social. to mail On Thursday, the situation was framed as a national emergency.

“As Democrats have recklessly created a true National Crisis, I am using my powers under the Law to protect our Great Country,” Trump wrote. “Therefore, I will be signing an Order to immediately pay our TSA Agents to address this Emergency.”

The move comes after a 41-day partial government shutdown hobbled the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and caused long lines at airports across the country due to a dispute over DHS funding and immigration enforcement.

Trump thanked TSA agents for their work while accusing Democrats of “refusing to fund Immigration Enforcement” and creating “Chaos at Airports.”
