Labour MPs despondent as Mandelson follows Rayner out the door

Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander said that workers’ deputies would feel “desperate” after a chaotic week who saw the dismissal of Lord Mandelson and the resignation of Angela Rayner.

Sir Keir Starmer faces questions about why Mandelson appointed Mandelson as Washington Ambasador, despite his convicted pedophile Jeffery Epstein.

The government said Mandelson was rejected after new information about the scope of the friendship of two men this week.

The Prime Minister is currently in the search of a new ambassador to Washington just a few days before the US President came for a state visit.

Speaking with BBC breakfast Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander said: “Many of us have been ruined [deputy PM] Angela Rayner’s departure from the government last week.

“He is an extraordinary woman who overcome the most extraordinary difficulties, and we regret it and feel this feeling of loss quite acute.

“Now, for the dismissal of Peter Mandelson next week, of course, Labor Party MPs will be desperate to see important resignations from public service in two consecutive weeks.

He said: “These are not the titles of any of us in the government or parliament.

“But the truth is that when the evidence appeared, the action had to be done, and therefore we look forward to continuing.”

Some workers’ deputies expressed anger about how the situation was handled with Mandelson.

Paula Barker, who left the deputy leader of the workers on Thursday, said, “The delay of taking it out of duty has served only to erode our government and our politics.”

Charlotte Nichols said Mandelson’s dismissal is not urgent enough because it should never be appointed. “

Sadik Al-Hassan said that “the ambassador’s serious questions about the veterinary process”.
