Man who dumped UK couple in suitcases given 42 years

A Colombian man who killed two men in west London and transported their dismembered bodies in suitcases to south-west England has been sentenced to 42 years in prison.
Yostin Andres Camira, 35, was convicted of murdering 62-year-old Albert Alfonso and 71-year-old Paul Longworth in their home in July 2024. Prosecutors said Camira beat Longworth with a hammer and stabbed Alfonso to death after the couple had sex.
He then decapitated and dismembered both victims, placed parts of their bodies in suitcases, and traveled to Bristol in south-west England, leaving their luggage at the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
He pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder but admitted manslaughter to Alfonso, claiming he lost control after Alfonso killed Longworth and threatened his family. The jury rejected his defense and found him guilty of both murders.
On Friday, Camira pleaded guilty to three new charges of possessing indecent images of children.
He was sentenced to a minimum of 42 years in prison at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday by Judge Joel Bennathan, who described the murders as “utterly evil crimes”.
