Two critical after spate of stabbings across Queensland
Police responded to a series of stabbings in Queensland on Saturday night that sent several people to hospital, including two with serious injuries.
Several people were injured in the alleged stabbing at a house on Aster Street in Cannon Hill, east of Brisbane, at around 9pm.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said a man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries to his chest and legs.
A young boy with a hand injury and a man in his 20s with a wound on his face were also taken to the same hospital in good health.
A man remains in hospital after he was allegedly stabbed on the Captain Cook Highway at Ellis Beach, north of Cairns, in Far North Queensland at about 10.55pm.
A QAS spokesman said the 48-year-old was taken to Cairns Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition due to a chest injury.
Queensland police allege the incident followed an argument between two men, with a 45-year-old man from Wulguru in Townsville charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
The injured man, from Speewah, west of Cairns, was later stabilized. A police spokesman said the pair knew each other.
Another alleged stabbing at Kumbarilla on the Western Downs left a man in his 20s with multiple arm injuries.
A QAS spokesman said he was stabbed on the Moonie Highway at around 9.33pm and was taken to Dalby Hospital in a stable condition.
Paramedics were also kept busy overnight by a number of serious accidents.
Multiple people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash on the northbound Pacific Highway in Greenslopes at around 6:28 p.m.
Ambulance crews took a teenager, who was in a stable condition and suffered a neck injury, to Queensland Children’s Hospital. A woman in her 30s and two other teenagers were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
Additionally, the QAS spokesman said a young girl was also dispatched to PA after she suffered a head injury after falling from a moving vehicle on Old Cleveland Road in Capalaba at around 8.20pm.
Two men were injured when a vehicle crashed into a tree on Rirranth Street at Pormpuraaw in Cape York at around 10.20pm.
One suffered a minor head injury and was taken to the local clinic in a stable condition, while the other, aged in his 20s, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the clinic with life-threatening injuries.
A man in his 40s was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on Howard Cemetery Road north of Maryborough around 7 p.m. A QAS spokesman said he was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition with serious head and facial injuries.
Meanwhile, police have charged a 19-year-old man from Kelso in Townsville in connection with an alleged dangerous driving incident that occurred in that city on Saturday afternoon.
Police allege the man drove dangerously in a Thuringowa Central car park, causing pedestrians to try to flee before threatening members of the public with a gear shifter.
The suspect, who has been charged with a number of offenses including dangerous driving and being armed with intent to cause fear, is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.
