PGA CEO apologizes to Rory McIlroy for inappropriate Ryder Cup fan behavior

Europe Team protected the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black for a weekend, but one of the main stories of this year’s competition was how USA Team fans treated the golfers in Long Island.
Rory McILO from Northern Ireland and his wife Erica were at the center of some of these insults, and America PGA CEO Derek Sprague touched on a point to apologize.

Sprague said that he was “disappointed in fan behavior” and condemned the comedian Heather McMahon, who left his position as Ryder Cup host on Saturday after joining the hymn “F — You, Rory”. McMahon refused to rule the hymn.
“I’m disappointed in the first Tee and the emergence, not just who we are,” Sprague said. “And I really, really, I’m really disappointed.”

In addition, there was a viral moment in which an drink was moving towards McILOY’s wife and golfers in the world just looking for the fan at the responsible stands.
McILOY also fans turning the bird and told others to “close F — UP” during the three-day tournament. His partner, Shane Lowry, was standing for McILOY, one of his best friends, and explained to the fans who commented on his weights.

While Sprague CEO, PGA of America President Don Rea wasn’t harsh in discussing the fan behavior with BBC.
“There are really 50,000 people here,” he said. “Heck can go to a young football game and get some people who say the wrong things. It allows fans who booed that someone does not worse them.
Players like Justin Thomas organized the crowd to silence or continue certain cheers during the game during the weekend.

The European team won 15-13 victories to protect the Ryder Cup after playing during the Singles on Sunday. The US team fell 11 ½-4 ½ to the day, but finally fought to really approach.
