Mandurah police ask public to stop reporting capsized boat in Peel Estuary

A boat in the Peel Estuary has repeatedly attracted public attention, so much so that the WA Police Force has asked people to stop reporting it.
The ship, Blue Water, was spotted south of Mandurah and police were notified that it had capsized several times.
“We ask the public not to report this particular vessel as repeated calls require officers to respond under priority circumstances until the vessel is confirmed upon arrival,” Mandurah District WA Police Force said in a statement on social media. he said.
“This impacts our ability to respond to other incidents. If you encounter a new emergency or situation involving immediate danger at sea, please continue to contact police on 131 444 or 000 in the event of a life-threatening emergency.”
The ship was first reported weeks ago and the Ministry of Transport and Major Infrastructure, which is currently working on removing the ship, was informed. It has been stated that there is no emergency regarding this at the moment.
A spokesman said it could take a few more weeks for the boat to be removed but there was no danger.
“Blue Water is not in danger,” they said.
“It slides because it is at the bottom; it does not sink. There may be some water in the body, but it is sitting on the sea bottom in a very shallow part of the estuary.”
