Manipur: 2 arrested, arms and ammunition seized

Two persons were arrested and weapons and ammunition seized from their possession in separate incidents in Imphal East district of Manipur, police said on Saturday (January 3, 2026).

In the police statement, it was stated that a person identified as Thoudam Ranjan Singh (41) was arrested from his residence in Leimakhong Mapal Mamang Leikai on Thursday, January 1, 2026, and nine 9 mm cartridges were seized from his possession.

He added that security forces also arrested 35-year-old Karam Mani Meitei from his home in Thongju Part-II, Pichu Lampak Ningombam Leirak on Friday, January 3, 2026 and seized a 9mm pistol with a magazine.
