Maoist Leader Shukru’s Family In Odisha Awaits His Return As Security Forces Continue Search

What are you doing? Security forces have intensified efforts to track down Maoist leader Shukru as his family members and villagers in a remote part of Odisha continue to anxiously await his return.

Shukru’s residence is located in Kurub village under Kalimela police station limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district. The family still lives here and hopes to eventually return home.

According to sources, Şükrü has been associated with the Maoist movement for over three decades. He is believed to have been actively involved in rebel activities over the years and reportedly continues to operate in the region alongside his associates.

Security forces have stepped up anti-Maoist operations in the region as part of a broader effort to curb insurgent activities in Maoist-affected areas of southern Odisha.

Meanwhile, the state police repeatedly appealed to Shukru to surrender and return to the mainstream under the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy. Officials say such policies offer former rebels an opportunity to rebuild their lives through financial aid, job training and other support measures.

Despite these calls, Shukru is yet to respond and is believed to remain active in Maoist operations.

However, when he returns to his native village, his family continues to hope for his safe return. Relatives and villagers also appealed for him to end the violence and surrender to the authorities so that he could be reunited with his family and lead a normal life.

Their emotional appeal added a poignant human dimension to ongoing security operations in the region.
