Guardian journalists win across categories at Press Awards in London | Newspapers & magazines
The Guardian’s political editor, a leading feature writer and a brave young Palestinian reporter are among those honored at the Press Awards in London.
The awards celebrate the best journalism across all news media publishers distributing in the UK.
Pippa Crerar, the Guardian’s political editor, won Political Journalist of the Year for her work at Downing Street in 2025, including an exclusive piece reconsidering winter fuel payment cuts following Labour’s local election defeat.
Simon Hattenstone, one of the Guardian’s leading feature writers, has been named Broadsheet Feature Writer of the Year. Her moving account of the death of talented musician Joe Black, who was sorely disappointed by his homeless hostel, stood out at the awards.
Malak A Tantesh’s harrowing report, in which he shared his experience of living with constant fear and uncertainty during his two years in besieged Gaza, which he described as “a war into hell”, earned him the Young Journalist of the Year award.
Tantesh regularly reported for the Guardian from Gaza following the 7 October attack, providing a vital and rare perspective at a time when international journalists were mostly banned from entering Gaza.
Other Guardian winners included data projects editor Pamela Duncan, who won Data Journalist of the Year for her investigation into how daily Facebook networks feed right-wing ideas, and Charlotte Edwardes, who took home Saturday magazine’s Broadcast Paper Interviewer of the Year award.
The Guardian’s podcast team won News Podcast of the Year for their episode Lost on Amazon. The investigation, which investigated the disappearance and murder of British journalist Dom Phillips and Brazilian indigenous expert Bruno Pereira in the remote Javari Valley in 2022, was reported by Phillips to the Guardian from Brazil.
The Guardian also won the Broadsheet Front Page of the Year award for American Dread magazine. The Times won the Daily Newspaper of the Year award.
