Eight Test Positive for Drugs at Kondapur Pub; Eagle Squad Steps Up New Year Crackdown

Hyderabad: The special Eagle Squad of the Cyberabad police has intensified its crackdown on drug abuse ahead of the New Year celebrations and carried out surprise inspections at major bars and nightclubs in the city. During a raid at Quake Arena Pub in Kondapur, officers detained eight people who tested positive for drug consumption. The raid took place during the pre-New Year concert of Ukrainian DJ Arbats. Authorities tested 14 suspects at the scene, and eight of them were confirmed to be under the influence of narcotics.
Police said the operation was part of a coordinated drive across Siberabad borders targeting drug addiction, illegal gatherings and nightlife violations.
Over the last ten days, Eagle Squad has achieved:
27 people, including 17 consumers, 5 of whom were foreign nationals, were arrested in drug-related cases.
68 grams of cocaine, 50.5 grams of MDMA and 382 kilos of marijuana were seized.
Special drives will continue throughout the New Year weekend to ensure a “drug-free and safe celebration environment” in Hyderabad’s party districts, officials said.
