Mark Carney blasted for kissing Trump’s a** at White House | US | News

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is facing criticism for praising US President Donald Trump during their bilateral meeting on Tuesday.
The two leaders met Tuesday to discuss trade tariffs, among other issues, including Trump’s persistent threats to annex its northern neighbor and create the 51st state.
While the steel industry continues to grapple with Trump’s tariffs, Canada remains the only G7 country that has not signed a trade agreement with the United States this year. The news comes as Trump’s 9-word response to the Canada deal puts the Oval Office in a difficult situation.
In the summer, Carney announced he would lift retaliatory tariffs against the United States in an attempt to extend an olive branch to Trump, who expressed anger at harsh conditions during the meeting.
Addressing the press in the Oval Office, Carney said to Trump, “You are a transformative president.” Express USA.
A video of the conversation was shared on X by journalist Aaron Rupar, who commented on the interaction: “I’m sorry to report that Mark Carney is kissing Trump.”
Carney’s flattering comments were made at the start of Tuesday afternoon’s meeting.
“Mr. President, if you allow, you graciously hosted me and some of my colleagues a few months ago. I said then that you were a transformative leader,” he said.
The Canadian leader praised Trump for revolutionizing the economy, securing “unprecedented” commitments with NATO allies, facilitating ceasefire agreements between India-Pakistan and Azerbaijan-Armenia and eliminating what he described as Iranian terrorism. Many X users expressed their displeasure with Carney’s decision to praise Trump during the meeting.
“As a Canadian, this is sickening speech,” commented one X user. “But as the saying goes, you need to baste the turkey before serving it.
“This is disgusting and unfortunately needs to be done,” another chimed in.
But some X users suspect that the choice of words is deliberately misleading.
“Transformative doesn’t just mean positive things. I personally think it’s meant in a pretty perverse way,” said one X user.
Another similarly added: “This was a backhanded compliment, not meant to be taken at face value.
“Technically speaking the truth, some of the transformations are bad,” said a third.
A fourth said: “Converter is the most neutral way to describe that guy and still be nice.”
