MARK LEVIN: Iran’s regime cannot be trusted with nukes, missiles or promises

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

It was clear that something was up when we suddenly slammed on the brakes and canceled the planned military operation against the Iranian regime. We gave the regime 2-3 days to reach an arrangement that would probably not include nuclear weapons. What does no nuclear weapons mean? Will scientists forget the things they developed? How long can we keep this in a box? What happens to enriched uranium? We are told that: 1. they have enough money to build 10 bombs in 11 days, and 2. that it takes several weeks to enrich uranium from 60% to 90% from nuclear grade. What about the plutonium that no one is talking about?

What about ballistic missiles destroying targets in the Middle East? What about the range of missiles that can now hit Europe? We didn’t even know how far those missiles could reach. I guess this will all change? Will the Iranian regime, which has fired inspectors, concealed its activities, and violated every agreement it has signed, change because of our military operations?

Frankly, does this act or sound like a defeated or death-conscious regime? For some reason, the West collectively cannot grasp the fact that the Iranian regime’s mentality is not based on mutual existence. It is a religious, extremist, fundamentalist cult that insists on conquering or destroying anyone who does not submit to its ideology. They told us this. They wrote this. They preach this. In his books, brochures, sermons, etc. there is. This is a revolution without borders, not just one nation among others. Haven’t we learned this by now? Many Americans have been killed in the last 47 years as a result of the regime’s ambitions.

EMB GORDON SONDLAND: THE WEST WILL NOT LET IRAN TURN TRUMP’S PAUSE INTO ANOTHER NUCLEAR-POWERED WAR

My biggest concern has always been enforcement, which is not much discussed even after all this time. If there is a deal, whatever it is, perhaps the biggest deal in the history of deals, the regime is still cheating, lying and hiding what it is doing. Our intelligence and satellites cannot catch all of them. So what happens if we find violations? “Then we’ll hit them again, Mark.”

Were we doing this before Trump? Does anyone believe we will do this after Trump? Is this what they would do if Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, or one of the other Democrats became president? Heck, even Republican presidents didn’t act. Look at all the noise, appeasers, pacifists, isolationists, etc., for crying out loud. These are noisy movements in our politics and government. And look at the reaction to the temporary increase in the price of a gallon of gasoline. Can we have this will even a few years from now?

What about Hezbollah, which remains a powerful terrorist force? What about Hamas? Will the Iranian regime promise not to support them? My answer: Is the Brooklyn Bridge still for sale? So how do we stop the regime if it is funding them? What are we going to do? What about the Iranian people? What about them? “They must stand up,” it is said. Yes, they did. Unarmed. And they paid a very heavy price and are still paying. I can imagine what more could be done to them.

Of course the Europeans will be as useless as they are now. Even if there is a détente with China and a similar situation with Russia, they will continue to support the Iranian regime. So will North Korea. We have no control over them sabotaging any deal. All this should be taken into account.

And Democrats, ever desperate in their search for political opportunity, will rhetorically ask questions: “Why did we go to war,” “This is Obama 2.0,” “we’ve wasted billions of dollars,” “Trump is a TACO,” and so on. I can hear it now. The truth won’t matter. The rotation will be constant. Of course, if the Democrats had their way, the Iranian regime would already have nuclear weapons. But none of that will matter. Despite all the “exit” demands, this could be very detrimental to the midterm elections. But isn’t the problem the regime itself? If he survives, how do we contain him?

To be absolutely clear, I have no inside information. In fact, as far as I know, after 2-3 days of negotiations, the military operation against the regime will begin again. But it is very important to think about these issues and much more.
