Martin Lewis reveals how council tax could change – and urges people to act

As Martin Lewis started a turning point consultancy, he explained how the Council tax could soon change throughout England.

Monetary expert, this ‘broken’ tax invites to share their views with the workforce ‘correction’ is a chance to say.

The Council is on the table that facilitates the recovery of the tax debt collection and the challenge of the payment rate of households.

The initiative was initiated by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, the Department of Communities, Housing and Local Government (MCHLG).

Local Government and British Revolution Minister Jim McMahon Obe said: “As part of our change plan, we put the employees first.”

“We listen and take action to make the Council tax more fair, more transparent and easier to manage. Local government under our plans will be there to support and punish the people left behind.”

Martin Lewis said: “Council tax rapid and aggressive debt collection methods have currently damaged millions of damage and affected mental health problems disproportionately.”

Pursuant to the existing rules, the councils are allowed to use debt collection tactics criticized by campaignists. If a household misses a single payment, local authorities may request their invoice all year after six weeks and force this request with the executive officers.

This is one of the title measures under consultation after confirming that the government will be included in May. Mr. Lewis encouraged to participate in the consultation and to announce his views.

In addition, a household changes or scrapes the council’s tax band, which makes it much more difficult on the property after six months. Experts predict that hundreds of thousands of households are probably in the wrong group, so it will facilitate the problem of this change.

However, the re -valuation of the Council tax tapes in general is not within the scope of consultation, although the last one was carried out in 1991.

Responding to the launch of the consultation, Lewis has broken many parts of the Council tax system, and after calling some of these corrections for nearly 20 years, the government quickly started this long -term consultation, including many management areas I heard the most complaints. “

“Council tax rapid and aggressive debt collection methods are currently damaging millions and affecting those with mental health problems disproportionately.”

“In addition, when the Council Tax Bands are not re-valued with the stopping gap driving for the first time in 1991, if they think that they are in a very high group, even if this consultation is not within the scope of this consultation, the 100,000s may make the challenge easier, so that people can pay the right price.”
