Maryland park closed after string of explosive devices found | Maryland

Authorities found multiple explosive devices at a Maryland park over the weekend, prompting the park’s closure.
One expression On Monday, the Prince George’s County Fire Department said its bomb squad responded to Fort Washington Park after “several explosive devices were detected,” prompting U.S. Park Police to shut down the approximately 341-acre area.
Five devices were initially detected and “made safe before operations were ceased after sunset,” officials said, adding: “Additional explosive devices were located this morning.”
“The bomb squad is on scene working to secure the devices. A joint investigation is ongoing and ongoing with the PGFD fire marshal’s office, as well as the Maryland state fire marshal’s office, ATF, FBI and U.S. Park Police,” PGFD said.
Photos posted online show bomb squad officers present at the scene and many pipe bombs lying on the ground among leaves and rocks.
PGFD said, “There is currently no threat to the public. If the public encounters a device similar to the one seen in the photo, do not touch the device. Leave the area and call 911.”
