Mystery buyer of Epstein’s Zorro Ranch is revealed to be Texas politician running for election

The mysterious figure who purchased disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sprawling New Mexico estate, where many survivors say he was sexually assaulted, has been revealed as a Republican firebrand poised to become Texas’ next comptroller.
Donald Huffines, a former Republican state senator from Dallas, bought the infamous Zorro Ranch in southern Santa Fe County in 2023 — four years after Epstein was found dead at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York. Santa Fe New Mexico reports.
The secluded desert ranch, which includes a 26,7000-square-foot mansion, was listed for sale in July 2021 for $27.5 million, but a published report stated that the sale price had dropped to $18 million.
It’s unclear how much the Huffines spent to purchase the land, but a spokesperson for the family insisted to the New Mexican that the proceeds went to Epstein’s victims.
“Four years after Mr. Epstein’s death, the Huffines family purchased property listed at public auction in New Mexico, the proceeds of which benefited his victims,” spokesman Allen Blakemore said.
‘They had never visited the property before the listing auction.’
After the sale took place, the Huffines petitioned to lower the farm’s assessed value, arguing in part that the property’s “fame” and eventual sale price justified a lower appraisal, according to documents obtained by the New Mexican.
The Santa Fe County assessor ultimately agreed, with court records showing that in December 2024 he valued the property at $13.4 million for fiscal 2023, not the $21.1 million originally assessed.

The Huffines apparently attempted to distance their new property from its former owner by renaming it ‘San Rafael Ranch’ by 2024 and changing its address from 49 Zorro Ranch Road to 49 Rancho San Rafael Road.
The Texas businessman is currently the front-runner in the Republican primary race for supervisors in Texas.
His campaign website says he’s running for ‘DOGE Texas Gov’, a reference to President Trump’s efforts to reduce the size of government.
As the auditor who oversees government financial matters, her goals include “eliminating DEI” and “eliminating benefits for illegal aliens,” citing diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
On his campaign website, Huffines describes himself as ‘a successful businessman, fifth-generation Texan and Trump Republican who will bring a private sector mindset to the controller’s office.’
“He’s running for supervisor to bring President Trump’s bold leadership and business-minded discipline to Austin,” Huffines’ biography on his campaign website reads.
‘He has a proven track record of fighting on behalf of taxpayers, standing with President Trump, and courageously leading when it matters most.’
The site adds that he is supported by the late Charlie Kirk, as well as U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, conservative activist Riley Gaines, and ‘every major conservative organization in Texas.’

But his New Mexico property has some baggage.

According to four sources, he reportedly once confessed to scientists that he wanted to spread his DNA throughout the human race by impregnating women on the farm. He spoke to the New York Times.
Over the years, many victims who accused Epstein of sex-trafficking them as children also claimed they were abused by the disgraced ranch financier.
Among them was a victim named Jane, who said she was only 14 when she was abused at Epstein’s properties, including one in New Mexico.
Celebrity Virginia Giuffre, who accused England’s former Prince Andrew of sexual assault, was also photographed at the farm.
New Mexico authorities are currently trying to establish a ‘truth commission’ to investigate whether any illegal activity is taking place at the ranch and to identify anyone who may have been involved. KOB’s report.
The initiative is a measure of the New Mexico Legislature; meaning the House only needs to approve it, and no Senate approval or the governor’s signature is needed to move forward.
A hearing on the matter is scheduled for Monday, and State Rep. Andrea Romero said lawmakers “will try to get everything on record within the designated time frame.” [Epstein] was here.
“I was heartbroken when we heard that various victims claimed they were trafficked here, some of whom claimed they were sexually abused as children,” she told KOB.
‘And it’s disgusting to think that this happened on our watch.’
