Oldham LIVE: Bomb squad and police lock down street as locals told ‘stay away’ | UK | News

The bomb squad and police rushed to a street in Oldham after receiving a report of a “suspicious package”.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “Our officers are dealing with a suspicious item found at an address in Block Lane, Chadderton; there is a cordon in place and people should avoid the area.

“Other emergency services are also present and EOD will also participate.”

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit deployed the bomb evaluation device.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two fire engines from Oldham and Chadderton are currently on standby on Block Lane.
