The wife of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reportedly celebrated terrorists in a series of social media posts during her adolescence and young adulthood, as scrutiny of her online history continues.
In September 2017, Rama Duwaji posted on his Tumblr account a photo of Leila Khalid, a long-time active leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), who participated in two hijackings in 1969 and 1970.
The photo’s caption read: “I’ll gladly accept death if it’s good for my cause.”

Khalid was the first woman to hijack a plane and is revered by terrorists for her role in the crimes.
The Washing Free Beacon reported that most of her posts were made in her early 20s, noting that Duwaji, now 28, spent her early childhood in New Jersey before moving to Dubai with her family.
In March 2015, at the age of 17, Duwaji reposted a tweet praising terrorist Shadia Abu Ghazaleh on International Women’s Day. An image in the post shows Ghazaleh, who participated in the bombing of an Israeli bus and led many other terrorist attacks.
In the photo, he can be seen posing with a rifle in his hand. He was killed in 1968 when the bomb he built in his home accidentally exploded. The device that killed him was allegedly intended to blow up a building in Tel Aviv.
Other posts feature someone wearing a keffiyeh outfit while planting a flag.
The caption reads, “Photo: ‘A Palestinian demonstrator raises a Palestine Liberation Organization flag before a protest during the First Intifada,’ February 1988.”
Another showed a Bangladesh postage stamp that read: “We salute the brave freedom fighters of Palestine.”
A post published in July 2015 criticized the US military presence abroad.
“*microphone rings* American soldiers fighting in imperialist wars are not brave and they do not fight for anyone’s freedom,” the post said. “They brutally murder civilians on Earth and fight to maintain American hegemony. That’s it, thank you! *drops microphone*”

Later that year, Duwaji reposted a Tumblr user.
“You can’t accuse Muslims of terrorism because they didn’t build, finance and train Al Qaeda,” the user wrote. “Whites did that too.”
In another post from 2015, he reposted his criticism of Snapchat’s addition of Tel Aviv to its live stories feature.
“But in reality I’m disappointed in @Snapchat. Damn #TelAviv. It shouldn’t exist in the first place. They’re invaders. You celebrate them,” he said in a post retweeted by Duwaji.
“And finally. Hey @Snapchat, you’re supporting a genocidal state while giving Israelis an opportunity to celebrate their brutality. Bye. #TelAviv.”
Duwaji, who was born in Houston and identifies himself as Syrian, married Mamdani in 2025. He attracted national attention immediately after the October 7 attack when it was revealed that he liked many posts criticizing Israel.

During the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, Duwaji liked an Instagram post showing photos of participants livestreaming footage of the attack that killed 1,200 Israelis, including young children.
She also allegedly liked a February 2024 Instagram post that claimed the New York Times’ investigation into sexual violence during the Oct. 7 attack was “fabricated.”
