Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid tribute to the 10-month-old girl from Kerala, whose parents donated her organs after their death, saying she was immortal.

Mr. Soren said his government would take all steps to strengthen the State’s organ donation policy.

Mr. Soren said in a post on X that losing a child is the most unbearable moment for parents.

“At this painful time, the decision of Ms. Sherin N John and Mr. Arun Abraham to donate the organs of their beloved child is not ordinary but an extraordinary example of courage, sacrifice and compassion. This was not just organ donation; it was a living testament to their unwavering faith in humanity,” Mr. Soren said in a statement on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

“Although Alin’s life was short, she lives as hope in many homes today and has become immortal,” he said.

Jharkhand Chief Minister also said that he saluted his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan’s sensitivity in ensuring that the state honors the last rites of the child.

Terming organ donation as the greatest act of giving life to others, Mr. Soren said that the Jharkhand government will take all steps to further strengthen the state’s organ donation policy to further promote such life-saving initiatives.

He said the example set by Aalin’s parents transcends borders, languages and all divisions and is a lasting message to humanity.

Aalin Sherin was seriously injured in a road accident on February 5 when she was traveling with her mother and maternal grandparents in Pallam near Kottayam. Despite intense medical efforts, doctors confirmed brain death on February 12.

With the consent of his parents, the organ donation process was coordinated through the Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (K-SOTTO).

The heart valve was sent to Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology in Thiruvananthapuram; his liver to KIMS Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram; and his kidneys were given to the Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. His eyes were donated to an eye bank.
