“According to initial information, suspects were seen fleeing while the vehicle was on fire,” reports Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), who assures that no one was injured during the event.
For the moment, the SPVM has not made any arrests.
When the police arrived on site, after being alerted by a 911 call around 9:30 p.m., firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department were already on site and were controlling the flames. The car, which was towed so that an assessment could be carried out, suffered significant damage.
No incendiary objects were found at the scene. Witnesses were met by the police. The investigation, which is still ongoing, has been transferred to the SPVM’s arson module.
