Meet fearless ‘Lady Singham’ IPS officer who stood up to Vijay’s party TVK’s second rally, has personal connection with Salman’s case

IPS officer Isha Singh is Puducherry’s ‘Lady Singham’ and has warned her seniors about the risk posed by Vijay’s TVK rally, which the party is holding for the second time at the Uppalam Port Ground. Both his parents served in civil services with a bold career trajectory.

A viral video caught everyone’s attention, in which a woman IPS officer was seen questioning the existence of a large rally in a strong and authoritative voice: “There is blood of so many people. Forty people are dead. What are you doing?” Puducherry Police Inspector Isha Singh was referring to the rally of actor and politician Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) held at the Uppalam Port Ground.

With a sharp tone in his voice, he reminded the public of the mega tragedy of Karur stampede, which killed 41 people during TVK’s grand rally on September 28. The video also shows Singh snatching the microphone from TVK general secretary Bussy Anand and then making a strong statement, which is a warning to the party leadership.

A week before this rally, he had warned his seniors not to give permission for a promotional tour featuring Vijay, considering the Karur tragedy, as such promotional tours carried great risk. He took responsibility into his own hands as he was appointed as the person in charge of the rally. The incident not only proved the bravery of a young woman IPS officer but also showed the true courage of an IPS officer.

Who is Isha Singh?

Isha Singh was born in Mumbai in 1998 and inherited courage and fearlessness from her father, Yogesh Pratap Singh, who was an IPS officer in 1985 and resigned after being repeatedly given different posts as “punishment” for exposing corruption. His mother, Abha Singh, quit the Indian Postal Service and chose to practice law instead, intervening in several important cases in the public interest, including Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case.
