It’s a no-brainer for the parents of some of showbiz’s finest to jump at the chance to transform their modest home into something more ostentatious.

But for some, home truly seems to be where the heart is, as they turned down the chance to move to fancier surroundings to stay in their previous properties.

Stars such as Anthony Joshua, Lewis Capaldi and Liam Gallagher have never shied away from praising their parents for providing them with vital support during their rise to success.

And while they no doubt offered their loved ones the chance to renovate their home with some of their vast fortune, in the case of these parents, they chose to take a leading role in their original home.

The threat of paying rent or a hefty mortgage can still be an unpleasant situation, and for stars like Anthony this even meant buying his mother’s flat in social housing so she could live there stress-free.

During his rise to become one of the world’s greatest boxers, Anthony credited his beloved mother Yeta Odusanya with keeping him going.

The heavyweight champion even bought his former council flat in North London for £174,000 after turning pro in 2013.

Following his historic victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2017, Anthony briefly returned to his mother’s apartment and shared his pride in his incredible victory in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley.

He has previously stated that his close relationship with Yeta was key to his rapid rise from amateur to boxing superstar; he has since won the WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles.

But he is so protective that since she won the Olympic gold medal at London 2012, he has not allowed her to watch his fights live or on television.

On Monday, it was revealed that Yeta rushed to Anthony’s bedside at one of Nigeria’s top hospitals to recover from the injuries he sustained in the car accident that killed his two friends.

The Nigerian president confirmed that Anthony’s mother had arrived at the hospital after calling the boxing star.

‘The only thing he wanted was that we had a garden gate that was really squeaky and he said, ‘I wish you could change the gate.’

‘We bought him a brand new door with a gold number 5 on it and from then on he was as happy as Larry.’

He added: ‘I don’t think he acknowledged we were in a band or any favors until he saw us on Top Of The Pops and then he was like, ‘Oh, that’s what you do?’ he said.

Growing up, Peggy used to take her sons back to Charlestown for visits and local pub owner John Finan told The Sun how Noel and Liam would spend a lot of time at their establishment, which had a lively music scene.

Following news of Oasis’ reunion in 2024, the couple reportedly had to hire 24-hour security for their beloved mother after becoming concerned for her safety.

Last year, Peggy finally saw her sons bury the hatchet after their 15-year feud when they took to the stage for a series of Oasis reunion concerts.

The singer decided to move out of her parents’ home in West Lothian during the Covid lockdown in 2020, and it was sold the following year.

When the house in West Lothian was listed in 2021, the estate agent listing described it as an ‘exceptional and individually built family home’.

A source said at the time: ‘This property is a good buy for an investor. Imagine owning the house where Lewis Capaldi penned some of his most iconic hits. It’s sure to cost a fortune in the years to come.’

The modern home is equipped with a new kitchen with white units and marble surfaces.

The en-suite master bedroom had bright green walls and a white double bed.

The open living and dining room overlooks the family’s garden, where Lewis’s outdoor recording studio can be seen.

Even after finding success as a singer, Susan said she couldn’t bear to leave her home in Scotland because it held so many precious memories.

‘It’s best to be grounded and have your roots. ‘It keeps you on your toes and prevents you from saying things you perhaps shouldn’t.’

Growing up in a religious family, Susan’s home is covered with many works of art and small sculptures, as well as paintings from her late parents.

Susan told the Edinburgh Evening News the house had needed refurbishment for a while and said: ‘The house had needed refurbishment for a while and I was starting to lose items in it.

‘I had the kitchen done, the living room papered, the floors done and a summer house built out the back.’
