Meghan Markle’s ‘strange’ decision to spark King Charles ‘bombshell’ | Royal | News

Netflix said in a statement: “Meghan’s passion for elevating everyday moments in beautiful yet simple ways inspired the creation of the As Ever brand, and we’re delighted to have played a part in bringing that vision to life. As was always intended, Meghan will continue to grow and independently take the brand to the next level, and we look forward to celebrating how she continues to bring joy to households around the world.”
Meanwhile, Meghan’s spokesperson said the brand was “ready to stand on its own two feet”, adding: “As Ever is grateful for Netflix’s launch and partnership in our first year.
“We’ve experienced meaningful and rapid growth, and As Ever is now ready to stand on its own. We have an exciting year ahead and can’t wait to share more.”
Grant Harrold, King Charles’ former butler, claimed that the day the change was announced was significant as it happened the same week as the anniversary of the Sussexes stepping down from their royal roles.
speaking on behalf of CasinoHawksMr Harrold said he believed this would be “a time for reflection for the couple”.
He said: “It feels like a strange decision. It’s a positive feeling to have the backing and support of a big name like Netflix, but Meghan seems to believe she doesn’t need it.”
“And of course we shouldn’t forget that he’s done this kind of thing before. His blog, The Tig, was hugely successful, so he knows what he’s doing in this area.”
“It’s also interesting that it comes just days before the anniversary of Meghan and Harry officially leaving royal life behind. It’s been six years since the couple performed their last engagement – the Commonwealth Day Service in 2020.”
“I think this is a very reflective time for the couple every year, so it means a lot that this announcement was made this week.”
Elsewhere, he talked about Meghan starting to sell his products in the UK and claimed the King would have “no problem with it”.
He added that if a gift is sent for the launch, the King will distribute it as an “olive branch” during visits to show his support.
He said: “I would be surprised if the King and Queen bought any of their products but never said never. This could be a good way to show that relations are going in the right direction.”
“If it launches in the UK, I’d imagine – or hope – that he’ll send them a few jars to try. And if so, I think the King will definitely make sure they’re out there as a little sign of support and an olive branch in the event of Harry’s visit.”
