Melania Trump says eight Ukrainian children seized by Russians have been reunited with their families | Melania Trump

Eight Ukrainian children have been reunited with their families following ongoing talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Melania Trump said Friday.

The First Lady of the USA wrote a letter to Putin in August and had this letter hand-delivered to her husband during her meeting with the Russian President in Alaska.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine resulted in Russia removing Ukrainian children from their country to raise them as Russians.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, the First Lady said that she responded to Putin’s letter and then established an “open channel of communication” regarding the welfare of these children.

“We decided to cooperate with each other for the benefit of everyone involved in this war,” he said.

He added that eight children were reunited with their families “within the last 24 hours.”

The Associated Press documented the abduction of Ukrainian children in 2022; The international criminal court then issued an arrest warrant against Putin for war crimes, accusing him of personal responsibility for the kidnapping of children from Ukraine.

Donald Trump has expressed disappointment in recent weeks over the failure to end the war in Ukraine, which he promised to end within a day as a candidate.
