Melbourne Airport terminal evacuated, travel chaos after suspected fire
On Friday night, passengers were forced to evacuate a terminal at Melbourne Airport after a suspicious fire broke out.
Fire Rescue Victoria and Aviation Fire Fighting and Rescue Services are responding to reports of a fire in Terminal 1 at the airport.

“The terminal is being evacuated as a precaution,” a Melbourne Airport spokesman said.
“The safety of our passengers and staff is our primary concern. We encourage all Qantas passengers to check with the airline on the status of their flight.”
Travelers expressed their disappointment on social media in the time it took for the evacuation procedure to take place.
“It took at least 10 minutes for the alarm to go off for everyone to take action and evacuate the guests,” one person wrote.
People now wait outside the building after being asked to go through security.
