Trump Kennedy Center hosts veterans’ music showcase after Memorial Day

The Trump Kennedy Center hosted a packed house Wednesday night as veterans and active-duty soldiers turned war stories to music during an emotional display of patriotism just days after Memorial Day.

“These are experienced independent artists and it was an honor to host them performing for a packed house “We are at the Trump Kennedy Center,” Roma Daravi, vice president of communications for the Trump Kennedy Center, told Fox News Digital.

“It is especially important to support our veterans beginning Memorial Day weekend as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom,” Daravi said. he added.

The performance, titled “From the Military to Music,” featured Brooks Herring, Brennan Clements, Jackson Perkins and Torv, veterans and active-duty musicians, performing songs inspired by war, trauma and healing during a show on the Trump Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage.

“Art remains essential to the fabric of our nation and the pursuit of freedom and happiness,” Daravi said. “We are proud to honor its role in our 250-year history with veteran shows at America’s cultural center.”

Audiences packed the venue for the intimate performance, which blended live music with personal reflections on military service, loss, resilience and healing.

CreatiVets, the nonprofit behind the event, works by pairing veterans struggling with trauma and difficult transitions to civilian life with professional songwriters and artists.

The show took place during an important transition period for the Trump Kennedy Center; leadership is preparing to temporarily close the iconic arts institution for an extensive $257 million renovation project tied to broader restoration efforts ahead of America’s 250th birthday celebration.

The Trump Kennedy Center’s board of directors unanimously approved the renovation project and a planned two-year closure beginning July 4 earlier this year.

Officials described the overhaul as an overdue restoration effort aimed at addressing decades of deferred maintenance, including deteriorating infrastructure, water damage, faulty HVAC systems and structural problems throughout the building.

Fox News Digital previously obtained images and interior materials showing corroded electrical systems, cracked concrete with exposed steel supports, and massive water seepage beneath the facility.

President Donald Trump framed the project as part of a broader mission to restore the Kennedy Center to its “highest level of achievement, beauty and grandeur.”

“Subject to the approval of the board of directors, I have determined that the quickest way to restore the Trump Kennedy Center to its highest level of success, beauty and magnificence is to cease entertainment operations for a period of approximately two years,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social earlier this year. he wrote.

The administration and Kennedy Center leadership have increasingly emphasized patriotic programming as part of a broader effort to reshape Washington’s cultural landscape ahead of the nation’s sesquicentennial celebration.
