Mets’ Steve Cohen offers apology to fans

New York Mets team owner Steve Cohen addressed the fans who were disappointed on Monday after the team had a terrible collapse and missed after the season.

“Mets fans are everywhere,” Cohen wrote to X. “I owe you an apology. You have done your role by showing and supporting the team. We did not do our part. We will do it after one and understand the clear and less prominent reasons that the team does not fulfill you and my expectations.
“Today we all feel raw emotions. I know how much time and effort you have made to this team. The result was unacceptable. Your emotions tell me how much you care about the organization and you continue to motivate to do better. Thank you to the best fans in sports.”
A few minutes later, the first master Pete Alonso said he would come out of his agreement and test the free agency.
“There are some wonderful men in this club building, there are great people in the staff,” he said. “And every day, it was a pleasure to come to work and wear orange and blue. I really appreciated it and I was nothing but gratitude every day. Nothing is guaranteed, but we’ll see what will happen.
