Mexico: Supermarket Explosion Kills 23

MEXICO CITY: An explosion at a supermarket in northern Mexico killed at least 23 people and injured 11 others on Saturday, according to local officials.
Sonora state governor Alfonso Durazo said in his video message while announcing the death toll: “Unfortunately, some of the victims we found are minors.”
Durazo said the survivors were being treated in hospitals in the city of Hermosillo, where the explosion occurred.
“I have ordered a comprehensive and transparent investigation to determine the causes of the incident and reveal those responsible,” he said.
The explosion occurred at Waldo’s store in the city centre.
Local public safety officials ruled out an “attack” or “incident related to an act of violence” against civilians.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed her condolences to “the families and loved ones of those who died” for X.
