Michael Angok escapes custody from Villawood Detention Centre

A prisoner at a major Sydney prison has escaped from custody while being transferred to hospital.
Michael Angok, 30, was taken from Villawood Immigration Detention Center to Bankstown Hospital on Wednesday and “escaped” and escaped shortly after 9.30am, according to NSW Police.
A heavy NSW Police presence, including Dog Squad, Raptor and Polair units, was deployed to establish a cordon around Angok and track him down before he advanced too far.
Although many “personal belongings” were found on Gelibolu Street, Angok managed to escape from the police.
He is described by police as “of African appearance, approximately 175 to 180cm tall, of slim build, with short black hair”.
“He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper, gray tracksuit trousers and white ‘crocodile’ sandals. Michael was previously a resident of the Blacktown area and may use the public transport network,” police said.
“While the search continues, anyone who sees Michael is asked not to approach him but to contact Triple-0 (000) immediately.”
More to come.
