HYDRAA Clears 145 Truckloads of Garbage Near Pragatinagar Lake

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) fenced a 1.5 km area around Pragatinagar lake on Wednesday to prevent garbage dumping and restore the water body.
HYDRAA erected a fence up to 10 meters high throughout the area. This step follows the recent removal of silt from the lake following complaints by local residents to HYDRAA that chicken, meat and fish vendors were dumping animal waste into the lake, causing strong odor.
Following the complaints, HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath instructed the authorities to clear the waste. Approximately 145 truckloads of garbage were cleaned.
Additionally, HYDRAA said it plans to begin development work soon, including measures to prevent sewage from entering the lake.
Residents say removing obstacles on both sides of the road connecting Pragatinagar and Kukatpally has eased traffic congestion and made commuting smoother. They added that clearing garbage along the busy road has also reduced the bad smell in the area.
