Michigan couple gets at least 20 years for baby girl’s death

Each of the religious michigan couple was sentenced to at least 20 years in prison for the killing of baby daughters after praying for emergency medical care.

A jury, 44 -year -old Joshua Piland and 38 -year -old Rachel Piland, found a second -degree murder and first -degree child abuse in March in March and ended a eight -year criminal case against the couple.

On Wednesday, a judge was sentenced to 45 years in prison by a judge for each accusation that would continue at the same time.
James James Jamo, Rachel Piland, read his punishment, “what you have done… It affected more than one life,” he said. Reports Lansing State Journal.
Jamo said that there is absolutely no reason to believe that the couple will make better decisions in the future, and “This means a high risk and children should be protected”.
In February 2017, baby Abigail was only 61 hours when he died of Bilirubin accumulation, which is commonly known as jaundice in the family’s lansing house.

One day after birth, a midwife and assistant told the mother to go to a hospital immediately for treatment, but the couple refused.
Rebecca Kerr, the mother of Rachel Piland, advised the search for medical care for the newborn, but rejected it again based on an extreme religious doctrine.
Rachel Piland said at the hearing, ık We believed that it was the best thing we could do for him (we prayed).

After the baby died, parents and friends prayed on the lifeless body. Authorities did not contact immediately to declare their death.
Only a relative called the police after a relative in California was replied to the house about nine hours after Abigail died.
The couple lost custody of their surviving children who needed the same treatment as Abigail. The state took them for life -saving medical care and survived.
