Rubio vows ‘strong support’ for Qatar after Israel strike

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio promised strong support to Qatar’s security during a lightning visit on Tuesday, as anger boiled anger during the attack on Israel’s Hamas negotiators last week.

After visiting Israel at a hurriedly arranged stop in Doha, Rubio squeezed his hands before entering the closed door talks with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, which lasted less than an hour.

He flew immediately after the meeting.

In Israel, Hamas in Doha targeted Hamas negotiators and promised “invariant support” even after angered the allies in the Gulf.

“Secretary Rubio confirmed the strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Qatar, and thanked Qatar for their efforts to end the war in Gaza and bring all the hostages home,” said Tommy Pigott, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He said.

“He reiterated America’s strong support for Qatar’s security and sovereignty,” Rubio added.

Rubio said that he would work with Qatar to complete a defense agreement soon despite the Israeli military action.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed said that his country appreciated the support of the US for meditation efforts and that this attack accelerated the need for renewed strategic defense agreements between the United States and the United States.

Rubio had previously said that he would “ask him to continue to do what he has done.”

However, the launch of Israel’s long -awaited ground attack on Gaza City early on Tuesday, leaving little scope for any new mediation proposal.

Rubio’s visit, Israeli strikes, the Gulf Emirate, the key to the key ally, after the promise of security, tried to secure Qatar.

Rubio descended to Qatar the day after an Arab-Islamic summit in Doha condemned Israel for strikes, and the head of the six Nation Gulf Cooperation Councils to “use Washington to” use the leverage and influence “to restore Israel.

President Donald Trump told journalists in Washington, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will never “hit” Qatar.

Rubio did not make such a comment in Israel.

Netanyahu said that his government has undertaken “full responsibility” for the attack on Doha, because we believe that terrorists should not be given a shelter.

– To duel US relations –

Qatar is home to the largest US air base in the Middle East and is the advanced base of the Central Command, the US Military Command responsible for the region.

The Gas Little Emirate was classified by Washington as a large NATO ally and decided to Trump and gave him a luxurious plane.

However, rather than Israel, which has a solid support from Washington, despite the international opprobrium on its military campaign in Gaza, is closer to the United States.

Before the October 2023 attack, Israel and the US reportedly encouraged Doha’s role, including the transfer of millions of dollars to Hamas, hoping to protect stability in Gaza.

In 2012, Qatar agreed to host the Hamas political office with the US blessing.

Both the United States and Israel saw Qatar as a better place to take care of Hamas with his close relationship with Washington.
