Microsoft is on a new AI journey after reworked OpenAI deal

Microsoft’s forward-thinking initial investment in OpenAI in 2019 came with a deal that linked the two companies in more than financial ways. Microsoft’s still-developing Azure cloud unit would be OpenAI’s sole cloud provider. On the other hand, Microsoft will not compete with OpenAI to create the ultimate goal of AI researchers: machines that can perform information work better than any human, also called superintelligence.
